Counseling Resources

When seeking a therapist, make a thoughtful choice by selecting someone who specializes in your specific needs and shares your beliefs. Counseling demands vulnerability, and it's crucial to ensure that you receive advice aligning with your values and effectively addressing your unique needs.

There are different types of effective therapies for trauma.

If you are looking for specific Evidence Based Practices that have good clinical outcomes, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) fits into this category, as does Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

In recent years, EMDR therapy has gained recognition for its effectiveness in treating trauma. Regrettably, EMDR was not available when I was undergoing healing. However, based on my understanding of its benefits and my own success with CBT, I am personally convinced that combining both approaches—EMDR and CBT—is a good strategy for trauma recovery and healthy thinking.

Another promising treatment is Neurofeedback, which has shown excellent results. It's exciting to witness these new advancements proving successful in the field of trauma recovery.

Your therapist and you can work together to see what is the best path for you.

There are times when medication is helpful. You may want to discuss with your doctor what options are best for you. There are instances when medications such as antidepressants or anti-anxiety drugs can prove beneficial. They can aid in calming nerves and balancing emotions, providing a stable foundation for the necessary healing. Medication does not serve as a cure, but rather as a supportive tool while actively addressing the underlying issues. This approach allows individuals to engage in counseling and explore additional avenues to work through challenges.

I am not a licensed counselor or psychologist. I cannot provide professional counseling services. However, from my own personal experience, research and the results I’ve seen in those around me, these are the resources I personally recommend.
