I’M A TRAMA SURVIVOR WITH A MISSION

MEET TESS

AUTHOR & SPEAKER

My story starts at this very unlikely place, where I had a life-altering experience…

At twenty-one, I was abducted from a mall parking lot. Wading through the aftermath of trauma, I discovered over time that one violent encounter had changed the entire course of my life.

After being left to piece together a shattered life, I eventually discovered how to heal. This journey led me to an unexpected purpose. Now I am passionate about helping others survivors heal and find their own unique purpose.

My mission is to empower trauma survivors to take control of their lives and overcome challenges by using a trauma-informed approach to healing. I integrate an understanding of the mental and physical impacts of trauma with evidence-based treatments and emphasize how a spiritual journey of faith can provide support and guidance for a well-rounded healing process.

I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to heal and move forward from past experiences. My goal is for others to not only see that healing is possible but believe it for themselves.

As the author of Abducted in Broad Daylight, I share my journey through trauma, healing, and finding purpose in unexpected places. If you’ve ever struggled with fear, loss, or feeling broken, this book will meet you exactly where you are. I don’t just tell my story—I invite you to discover your own faith, strength, resilience, and power to heal.

You’ll walk away with real hope, a deeper understanding of trauma’s impact, and practical encouragement for rebuilding a life you love.

As a speaker, I have shared with audiences across the United States, Europe, and Asia. My mission is to inspire survivors with a deeper understanding of trauma, its long-term effects, and practical tools to navigate the healing process. I offer hope and demonstrate the incredible power of overcoming adversity and discovering life's purpose.

Before transitioning to advocacy and nonprofit work, I was in business and owned and operated a successful mortgage company.

Once I joined the nonprofit sector, I worked as a Director of Women’s Training and later as a Director of Advocacy. This has allowed me to work with organizations and international partners to develop trauma-informed programs.

I reside in Indianapolis, Indiana, with my husband, Tom; daughter, Lily; and dog, Coco.

“My hope is that others not only know that healing is possiblethey will believe it for themselves.”
